Thank you for your email.
I attended my appointment with Mr Guy Martin on Monday 5th October as requested.
The appointment was pleasant enough, where I explained that since the stent procedure there had been a slight increase in mobility and reduction in pain.
I was given an explanation as to the situation re a leg stent and abdominal stent.
The original description was anything but clear and precise.
When I asked about the treatment from the Cancer doctors that had triggered my sudden and crippling leg problems,
Mr Martin advised me to Speak to those Cancer Doctors.
It was at this point that my spirits dropped.
My Cancer Doctors are the ones who suggested that I speak to some Vascular people like Mr Martin.
To my mind, these "Doctors" should be talking directly to each other, to find out exactly what has happened to me,
and why.
I should not have to go back and forth with messages of he said, and they said, then you said, to which they replied, and said I should, then you said.
They must have corridors of communication ???
A couple of weeks ago I had a huge swelling on the outside of my left Calf, which in turn had an additional cone shaped swelling on top of that.
It was very painful and a bit scary to look at, so I arranged to see my GP. Unfortunately my sleep routine is a mess, and I slept past the appointment slot.
Over the weekend it passed.
There has not been a repeat of this size or shape of swelling again.
Mr Martin is going to arrange a further scan in a few months time.
I think that it would be a good idea to scan my left calf as well as my abdomen.
For the present I will continue to exercise as best I can.
This is the treatment that changed me from fully mobile to semi housebound in just a few months, although the onset was within a few weeks.
Please bear in mind that I was given this 3 pronged chemo treatment for nothing more than a high PSA.
I had not taken any other medication for quite some time
I had no pain, no symptoms, no discomfort of any kind.
(Edit on 10th October 2026 - My Cancer has never actually been found or identified, ever, just a high PSA.
For which I have been given years of dissabling treatment. I stopped all treatment a couple of years ago and I am no worse off, and still have no Cancer symptoms other than a high PSA. From my perspective and experience, it seems to me that this 3 pronged dose of CHEMO had little or nothing to do with Medicine, but had everything to do with "Politics" and far left vindictiveness. Where on earth is the justification for such a course of CHEMO, just for a high PSA and a Cancer that has never been found, on a patient with NO SYMPTOMS ? /Edit)
My general health has been pretty good, and my level of mobility quite exceptional.
My home is in the Westbourne Park area of London W11.
Just a few years ago, I would sometimes walk up to Hampstead or Camden town for the day, have a few beers, and get the tube home.
I frequently walked to Kensington Gardens, onto Hyde Park and around the Serpentine, then back home again via Queensway and Westbourne Grove.
A walk down to Cafe Nero in Fulham Road was another, that took about an hour.
During the COVID years I was in Hyde Park a great deal.
My latest round of medication commenced on 1st September 2021.
At Uch Macmillan Cancer Centre, Huntley Street, London WC1E 6AG.
This was a combination of Bicalutimide 150 non stop, Enzelutimide for 3 months, and Decapeptyl SR 22.5 mg twice, at 6 month intervals.
After 2 years I stopped the Bicalutimide as the side effects had become unbearable.
Tiredness, brain fog, night sweats, sleep problems etc.
Within days of commencing this medication, I was literally on my knees with chest pain/tightness, shortness of breath, and crippling pain in my legs, but mostly the left leg.
I was so afraid of what was happening that I went to see my Doctor at that time, and she arranged to have my heart tested and my chest X rayed.
All was OK.
From memory I don't think that the leg pain was ever really investigated.
My Cancer Doctors were advised of my symptoms and concerns early on after taking the above medication.
This was done over the phone and Face to Face. (Why would I NOT do so ?)
They did not advise me to cease the medication, that was my decision taken later.
The pain with walking never did get better, it got slowly worse.
I have been diagnosed with EDEMA.
This is an incurable condition that means that I am now a semi invalid.
Almost house bound as I am unable to walk very far due to the ever increasing pain.
A search concerning EDEMA and the above medications show interesting results.
Remember, I was having 3 of them.
How could they not know the risk I was at ?
I have had a great deal taken away from me.
At an age when I needed it most. (I am 74 years old)
I WANT TO KNOW WHY ????

Dear Guy Martin,
Thank you for your recent letter to my GP, a copy of which is attached.
Since I was hit with a lack of mobility so very suddenly around the end of 2021, I have had an uphill struggle to get information of any kind relating to what has happened to me, and what my future holds.
I have been told nothing ?
It's as though I have been bounced around within officialdom.
With nobody knowing anything.
My main question is this.
Will I ever be able to walk normally again ?
From my medical records you are well placed to make an informed opinion about this.
If you still lack enough information, what procedures are required to give you this information ?
Please action these procedures.
I can see no point in any face to face meeting with you until my very simple questions stated above have received a comprehensive written reply.
So I will not be attending the appointment that has been arranged for 5th October 2026.
Please provide me with full information, as you have it at this time, in normal English.

The information provided here is quite comprehensive and doubtless will take time to consider thoroughly.
This "SAGA" of my semi invalid left leg needs to come to a satisfactory conclusion.
I wish to walk normally again.
It has been some years since I was last able to do so.
This merits investigation and maximum exposure.
Something very very wrong going on - REPEATEDLY !

Vascular Outpatients.
Today I had a follow up scan to check on the condition of the "Stent" inserted at St Mary's above.
As coincidence would have it, this follow up scan was to be done by the same clinician who had given me my first lower left leg scan, and had found a blockage in my lower left calf/ankle area.
From this point on, for months, all conversations about my left leg pain and inability to walk very far without pain, were focused on having a stent in my lower left leg, along with advice about the the possible dangers.
One of these possible dangers was, however slight, the loss of my left leg if complications set in.
On the day of the procedure, the Surgeon restated these same potential dangers, including the loss of my leg, prior to changing and "Scrubbing Up"
It was only after these conversations, and the advice of possible negatives, that I agreed to be treated on one of Mr Guy Martins "Cutting Tables"
"For the purpose of a Stent in my left leg"
I was never consulted, never advised, and never agreed, to anything else.
Getting back to today Tuesday 1st September 2026 @ 9.15am
I was seen very quickly and the clinician was civil and polite just as before.
The routine for this sort of scan is strip down to shirt and underpants, whereupon the clinician places tissue at strategic points to protect underwear from the Gel used to lubricate the scan head.
Is that the correct name for this device ?
Suddenly, a women in her early forties gushed in and said that she had been looking for me everywhere.
Why ?
She was a small, slightly built White woman with dark hair.
She introduced herself very authoritatively as a "Vascular Scientist" and then took over the entire procedure.
The original clinician then appeared to play a background role.
It was at this time that I first heard of an abdominal stent having been inserted inside me.
I had no knowledge of this !
She was adamant that my procedure at St Mary's had been for an abdominal stent.
She placed the required Gel on my abdomen and scanned.
I asked if she could see the stent in my abdomen and she said yes.
While she spoke with the clinician she remarked a couple of times that it was a very short stent.
It made me wonder why there had been so much pain in my left leg during that procedure ?
I was shocked, dumbstruck to learn this.
Out of confusion I asked how many stents had been placed inside me during the above procedure, and once again she was adamant that only one had been inserted.
Because we were all there and the equipment was all ready and set up I asked if we might check my left leg for a stent ?
Why Not ?
This woman was very very obstructive about scanning my left leg.
She would not permit this ?
Why Not ?
Why was a “Vascular Scientist” involved in such a routine procedure ?
When I left St Mary’s Hospital I was given the card below and told to keep it with me 24/7 for at least 90 days.
As you can see, it clearly states – Left Femoral Artery.
Who was this woman, who inserted herself into my scan/treatment ?
It’s almost as though she suspected something might be wrong with the stent in my left leg, and wanted to avoid exposing it.
I have a further appointment at Hammersmith Hospital on Monday 7th September 2026.
This letter clearly states that I will be seen by a member of your team.
Could you please ensure that this team member, has sufficient knowledge and information to advise me if I will ever be able to walk normally again ?
And what my long term prospects are with my condition.
Please advise.

I quickly realised that a written response was required as I am no longer as young as I used to be, and that items of information may get forgotten during a verbal explanation. Mr Martin did give me a fractured written response, which led me to believe that at that time, he had not actually read my letter, but had received an overview from his Secretary,
Ms Deborah Anselmi. I may be wrong.
As you can see below, I included some info not directly involving the case in hand, but I would not have thought it was sufficiently complex or distracting to restrict his understanding of the letter as a whole.
Mr Martin did inform me of the two surgeons involved in my operation.

The appointment letter stated that…….
“You will be under the care of the clinical team led by Guy Martin”
So, as I have failed to get any answers by contacting the above address directly.
I am now contacting you.
Events unfolded as follows.
All the nursing staff were very helpful in all respects.
The food was not too bad either.
A number of hours after I arrived I was prepared for the operating theater. Where the Surgeon introduced himself, but I have since forgotten his name. Would you be good enough to provide me with the names of the Surgeon and his assistant ?
Risks were outlined as per normal, along with questions about any allergies that I may have. I advised that Opioids gave me terrible constipation.
From what I could see the Surgeon appeared to be overseeing a more junior staff member through this procedure.
There was a slight amount of pain as the angiogram was inserted, but not a lot. Although I could not actually see what was happening. Minor surprise was indicated in the voice of either the Surgeon or his junior that I had felt anything.
The real problems arrived a little later with a sudden explosion of pain that seemed to encompass my entire left leg. Very soon the pain became excruciating with me feeling nauseous and extremely thirsty. The Doctor asked that I keep still, but by this time the leg was nearly out of my control.
I was going demented with the pain.
I was advised that strong pain killers were about to be given, it seemed like ages before it arrived. How long does it take to squirt something into a Cannula, why was it not already on hand, after all, what is a Cannula even for ?
One of the staff standing next to me on the platform/bed that I was laying on stated a couple of times that I was in a lot of pain. I could not see who he was talking to, and why did he feel the need to emphasize this ……..Twice ?
The pain continued with my discomfort continuing to increase. It was among the worst pain experiences in my adult life.
Is this level of pain normal with this procedure ?
If it is, why not tank me up with medication prior to the procedure ?
I asked one of the attending nurses what the maximum dose of pain killer was and she said 200, and that I had already had 50, and she would now take it up to 75. Had I been given 100 of the 200 maximum prior to the procedure, things may have been very different.
I have been advised by the Surgeon that when they tried to balloon my artery, the artery burst.
Is that what caused the pain to kick off ?
The surgeon advised that accidents happen, and they had proceeded with the stent.
After the procedure the orderlies wheeled me back to my room, and on the way there expressed concern a number of times at the amount of trembling in my legs. I was asked if it was normal and I said no. Just PTSD from the trauma of the procedure. And it certainly was traumatic.
From that point onward it seemed like every man and his Dog wanted to examine the insertion point in my groin to check for bleeding. Anyone could have asked me to swab with a tissue to look for evidence of leaks. The examination of my groin by every man and his Dog started to have a voyeuristic feel about it and I got pretty angry.
Something similar occurred prior to the procedure to check that my groin had been shaved ?
On the morning of Wednesday 29th July at about 6am I got ready to go home and the staff advised me that the Doctor wanted to see me first, and they would be in at around 8 or 9 am.
I waited.
As I waited I got further word from the staff that the Doctors had no idea that I was even there ?
Later I was told I would be seen as soon as possible.
The staff member removed the Cannula.
I gave the staff member the email address that I use exclusively for medical issues.
The same one registered with my GP.
At around 11am the staff member cut the ID straps from my wrists and I went home.
At around 15.00 on Wednesday 29th July I phoned the Hospital Ward and spoke to the staff member who had cut away my ID tags before I went home.
I advised that I needed the prescription that goes with my new stent.
It seems that there is also another medication to prevent against stomach ulcers.
What is all that about ?
At that time the Doctors had still not made an appearance ???
By the morning of Thursday 29th July 2026 the pain in my left thigh was just trace.
The leg pain in my left calf, which was the original problem, appears to have gone.
Breathing while walking is also easier.
For the future I will walk a little and often, and take it from there.
For a number of years now I have had to make do with a little and seldom.
In the absence of important information from the Doctors within any reasonable time period or appointment slot, I have to rely on the internet for Medical advice.
What other options do I have ?
Mostly I am concerned about the burst blood vessel during the procedure, from what I can see so far on YouTube the consequences of a burst blood vessel in the lower leg during a stent procedure vary between bad, and catastrophic.
What category of blood vessel burst during this procedure ?
Am I now walking around with a ticking time bomb in my left foot area ?
What should I be on the alert for ?
In terms of over all percentage what does the next ten years look like for me ?
I had a very unfortunate reaction to my last dose of “Chemo” a few years ago.
Which tripped my rapid physical demise, resulting in my arriving in your care on 28th July 2026. Alas, now I have had another unfortunate experience.
Is there any danger that I could develop a “Paranoid Disturbed Personality ?”
Ah !
But wait a minute, according to Hospital records, I already have one of those.
It’s been on the system for years. I never did find out who put it there, or why.
I recently did a search to find the NHS criteria for making this diagnosis.
It makes for interesting and troubling reading. Perhaps I’m just being paranoid.
What was the pain killer administered to me on the operating table when the pain arrived, was it an “Opiate” ? Because my insides have set rock solid, so I will consume nothing but water until it all starts moving again.
Perhaps it’s just IBS due to the stress of the trauma during the procedure.
But I would still like to know.
